Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Powerful, painless magnetic scanning

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an imaging technology that uses strong magnets and radio waves to form a picture of the organs and structures inside the body. MRIs are used to diagnose a number of conditions and are very helpful for examining the brain and spinal cord. When a patient has an MRI, they lie on a table that slides into a tunnel-like machine. The scan is painless, but the machine can be noisy and a patient may be offered ear plugs or headphones with music.
