Visiting Hours

Each patient has the right to receive the visitors he or she chooses to see, including, but not limited to, a spouse, domestic partner, other family members or friends. The patient has the right to withdraw or deny their consent at any time. Patients may also designate someone to be their representative or support person.

While St. Luke's has no specific visiting hours, the guidelines below are designed to protect patient safety.

Visiting Guidelines

• Two visitors in the room at a time. Others may wait in a designated waiting room.
• Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Overnight stays are discouraged, but can be accommodated with the approval of the charge nurse.
• A list of visitors who can obtain patient information will be kept at the nurse's station. This will include the patient's representative.
• Flowers are not allowed in the ICU, and gifts are discouraged.
• Smoking and use of tobacco products are prohibited at St. Luke's and on the hospital grounds.
• If you have a cold, upper respiratory infection or flu, please do not visit.
• Cellular phones may be used in the cafeteria, waiting rooms and other public areas. St. Luke's discourages cell phone use in patient care areas.
• Latex balloons are not allowed. They present a choking hazard to young children or may cause allergic reactions with patients or staff who may be sensitive to latex.

• Pediatrics (4 North)
  • Visitors are welcome any time except nap/quiet time (daily, 12:30–2 p.m.).
  • Parents welcome at all times.

• Birthing Center (6 East)
  • We honor that magical hour after birth by allowing babies and their parents uninterrupted time together to bond and begin breastfeeding. A Golden Hour sign will be posted on the door during this time.
  • Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

• Intensive Care Units (ICU) (6 Center and 5 Center)
  • Immediate family may visit for 5–10 minutes per visit and need to check in at the nurses' station.

• Mental Health (3 West)
  • Monday–Friday, 4–8:30 p.m.
  • Weekends and holidays, 1–8:30 p.m.
  • All visitors will be asked to lock up their belongings and must check in at the nurses' station.
• Rehab Care (8 West)
  After 4 p.m. is preferred due to the high-intensity therapy sessions that occur during the day.

Visiting Limitations

There may be some situations where visiting is limited. This is to ensure the safety of both the patient and visitors. These include, but are not limited to, the following situations:

• Infection control issues
• Group and therapy sessions
• Visiting interferes with the care or confidentiality of other patients
• St. Luke's is aware of an existing court order restricting contact
• Visitors engage in disruptive, threatening or violent behavior
• The patient or patient's roommate(s) needs rest or privacy
• The patient is undergoing care interventions. St. Luke's staff will try to accommodate the need of a patient who requests that a visitor be allowed to remain in the room to provide support and comfort
