St. Luke's Campus Expansion
St. Luke’s is expanding our Emergency Department (ED), Cardiac Cath
Labs, helistop, and other emergency and imaging services to St. Luke’s
Building A. This project will triple the size of our current ED and provide
emergency transport with immediate accessibility to critical care services,
offering our community improved quality, access and patient experience
when in need of emergency care.
Core Project Components May 2019 – June 2020
- New Emergency Department
- New Outpatient CT
- New Cardiac Cath Labs
- Expanded cardiac services
- Parking ramp, ambulance garage and helistop
Current Status:
Footings and foundation work is almost complete for the new Building A
ramp. Construction of the walls and structure of the ramp using pre-cast/prefabricated
concrete panels will follow. Construction vehicle activity will increase,
as a 600-ton crane is scheduled to move on-site on Tues., July 30. Due
to its size and weight, the crane and boom will be brought in separately,
then assembled in the parking lot. Counterweights for the crane will be
brought in in 15 semi loads. Exterior construction of the ramp is expected
to be completed by the end of August.
Meanwhile, permits have been obtained and interior work is beginning in
earnest. There will be a lot of activity inside Building A, beginning
on the ED level and moving quickly to the Cath Lab/Cardiac level of the
building. Construction crews will be using job-site doors and garage entrances,
and they have been asked to limit any use of St. Luke’s patient
entrances throughout the project.
Quality Patient Care
St. Luke’s is investing in this project to further patient care by
developing an uncompromised care environment that focuses on timely access
to critical services and efficient team work to care for each and every
patient. The additional space, state-of the-art design, and advanced technologies
will provide an environment that will better support the skills of our
physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff in providing
the best possible care to our patients.
A Staged Approach
St. Luke’s approach to expansion and building new facilities has
been phased intentionally so that we can respond to changes in the economic
climate, shifting reimbursement, advances in technology and changes in
the way care is being delivered. Completion of this phase is scheduled
for June 2020 and will conclude Phase I of St. Luke’s Campus Expansion.
Future expansion plants include:
Phase II: The size of Building A will double
Phase III: A hospital tower will be added atop Building A
