St. Luke's to Host Groundbreaking & Open House for Campus Expansion Project

TIME: 1 p.m. Groundbreaking Ceremony
4:30-6:30 p.m. Open House, with brief remarks at 5 p.m.
WHAT: St. Luke’s is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the
start of construction on its campus expansion project. The 15-month project
includes a new Emergency Department, Cardiac Cath Labs, imaging suites,
ambulance garage and helistop in St. Luke’s Building A.
The $37.5 million project has been designed by Erdman, which is also the
contractor. The new ED will be triple the size of the current space. There
will be 37 exam rooms total. They will consist of 27 patient rooms with
televisions and USB charging outlets, 4 state-of-the-art trauma bays,
4 dedicated behavioral health rooms and 2 triage rooms. The entire space
is designed to maximize efficiencies, decrease wait times, ensure privacy
and provide a premier patient experience. The ceremony will include comments
from St. Luke’s Interim President/CEO & CFO Eric Lohn, Dr. Nick
Van Deelen, Dr. Scott Mikesell, Duluth Mayor Emily Larson and Duluth Area
Chamber of Commerce President David Ross.
Then the public is invited to attend a community open house to celebrate
the start of the expansion that evening from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s
Building A, Level 3. The celebration will include a brief ceremony at
5 p.m., with comments from Dr. Scott Mikesell, Dr. Nick Van Deelen and
St. Luke’s Vice President of Support Services Mike Boeselager.
