WHAT: In recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday,
October 27, Bridging Health Duluth and WLSSD will highlight the importance
of properly disposing of old medications. Accidental poisoning, theft
and drug abuse all become a possibility when old and unused medications
are left to linger in medicine cabinets.
Disposal of medications can be tricky. To solve this problem, Bridging
Health Duluth members, including Essentia Health, Generations Health Care
Initiatives, Lake Superior Community Health Center, St Louis County, St.
Luke’s and Zeitgeist Arts, along with WLSSD, are drawing renewed
attention to how easy it is to safely dispose of unwanted medications
every single day of the year. St. Luke’s is now the newest organization
to offer drug take back boxes. Inmar’s Consumer Drug Take-Back boxes,
which look similar to library book return boxes, can now be found at St.
Luke’s Northland and Lake View Pharmacies.
