St. Luke's laboratory has been awarded accreditation from the Accreditation
Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on results
of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP's Accreditation
Programs. St. Luke's laboratory is one of more than 7,600 CAP-accredited
facilities worldwide and has been accredited since 1993.
During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard
of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory's
records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years.
CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment,
facilities, safety program and record, and overall management. "This
award demonstrates the commitment to safety, compliance and efficiency
that St. Luke's laboratory has to patients," said St. Luke's
Laboratory Medical Director Steven J. Eastep, MD.
St. Luke's laboratory is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
