Cardiac care at St. Luke's is first rate.
That's according to the American College of Cardiology, which just
announced St. Luke's has been recognized as a 2012 Platinum Award
winner for its treatment of heart attack patients.
The announcement was made in the November-December edition of the college's
publication,
Cardiology, and lists St. Luke's as one of 164 hospitals across the nation which
received the 2012 ACTION Registry - Get With The Guidelines Platinum Performance
achievement awards.
"It's a continued dedication toward excellence and improvement,"
said Dr. Scott Mikesell, of St. Luke's Cardiology Associates. "One
of the things that the American Heart Association has recognized is that
it's a team effort. There are countless different departments that
participate in the care of these patients."
Care of cardiac patients at St. Luke's can include both primary care
doctors and specialists in the cardiology, emergency, radiology, echocardiography,
dietary, cardiac catheterization lab and cardiac rehabilitation departments.
To be recognized as a platinum winner in the ACTION Registry – Get
With The Guidelines, a hospital must consistently follow the treatment
guidelines set by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association
for a minimum of eight consecutive quarters, and meet a standard of at
least 90 percent on specific performance measures.
