Hand Therapy
St. Luke's has dedicated hand therapists who are committed to helping
those with injuries and conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hands.
When one of these upper extremities is not working as it should, daily
activities can be painful or difficult. Our goal is to help facilitate
successful recovery, allowing individuals to function as normally as possible
in their daily lives.
Treatment by a hand therapist may include:
- Wound care
- Range of motion and strengthening exercise
- Moist heat and cold therapy
- Pain management
- Scar and soft tissue massage
- Desensitization and sensory re-education
- Customized splint fabrication
- Joint protection education
- Home management
- Home exercise programs
