Mammography
Digital mammography for breast health
St. Luke's offers digital mammography, an imaging technology to support
breast health. Mammography takes an X-ray of breast tissue. The image
is called a mammogram and is used to screen for breast cancer and cysts.
Digital mammography is most beneficial for women under age 50, women with
dense breasts of any age and women who are pre- and perimenopausal.
3D mammography is also available at St. Luke's Breast Center, St. Luke's Chequamegon
Clinic, and Lake View Medical Clinic.
Women are often worried about getting the results of a mammogram. Many
times, abnormal findings are not cancerous. St. Luke's is dedicated
to providing a diagnosis as quickly as possible, so women can get back
to their normal lives.
Breast Health
Breast health throughout a woman's life
Breast health is important throughout all the stages of a woman's life.
Knowing what's normal for your breasts throughout your menstrual cycle,
during perimenopause and postmenopause, can help women know when to consult
their doctor about breast lumps, breast pain or nipple discharge.
Every woman has a medical and family history that helps determine what
breast screening schedules are right for her. Talking with your primary
care doctor or OB-GYN physician will help determine your schedule for
clinical breast exams, mammograms and breast ultrasounds.
