    Bio

Dr. David Ruta grew up in the Chicago suburbs, enjoying all four seasons and year-round sports. His time in the city, including medical school, provided familiarity with socioeconomic struggle and limited access to healthcare. His response to that reality has included medical outreach throughout medical school and orthopedic surgical missions in the Dominican Republic during his residency.

Following his orthopedic surgery residency, Dr. Ruta completed additional subspecialty fellowship training in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery. He is especially interested in this field because of its multi-faceted nature, including arthritis, sports injuries, arthroscopy, tendon transfers, trauma, and deformity correction in patients of widely varying ages.

Dr. Ruta’s academic record has included achievement awards, leadership positions, and research presented at the regional and national levels. He is published in several orthopedic journals.

    Philosophy of Care
Dr. Ruta feels that the first step to exceptional orthopedic care is listening to the patient. He works together with them to design a customized plan on how best their activity goals can be achieved, optimizing mobility and function. Dr. Ruta believes patients are best served when they understand all of their treatment options, ranging from bracing or other simple non-operative modifications to advanced surgical interventions. He and his patients can then come to an informed decision together and move toward achieving their goals and maximizing their activity potential.
