Shawn grew up in Brainerd, MN, where he played baseball, football, and
ran track. During his high school sports career, he suffered an injury.
Through his injury and the healing process, he found a passion for medicine
or, as he says, "fixing people." After high school, he went
to Minnesota State University-Mankato where he focused on athletic training.
After Shawn completed his undergraduate program, he worked as a certified
athletic trainer at Marshfield Clinic. He eventually became the head athletic
trainer for the Stratford Tigers, Wisconsin's six-time defending state
football champions.
Shawn chose the Duluth area because he can enjoy the summers, as well as
be close to his family in Brainerd and his cabin in Ely. On the weekends,
you can find Shawn watching the Vikings or Twins, playing with his four
sons, kickboxing, or challenging friends to music trivia. His favorite
music is classic/hard rock, and his bucket list includes a visit to the
Mütter Museum in Philadelphia.
