Dr. Charlie Ahrens, MD joined St. Luke's as a board-certified ophthalmologist
in March 2015. He is currently accepting new patients for ophthalmology
and eye care at St. Luke's Miller Creek Medical Clinic serving patients
in Hermantown and Duluth and St. Luke's Hibbing Family Medical Clinic
in Hibbing.
Prior to joining the St. Luke’s family, Dr. Ahrens worked with Relf
Eye Care Specialists in Hermantown since July 2011.
Dr. Ahrens provides care in all aspects of general ophthalmology, plus
medical and surgical management of glaucoma, refractive surgery (LASIK),
refractive cataract surgery, lids and oculoplastic treatment and surgery,
and medical retina care.
Dr. Ahrens grew up in Buffalo, Minnesota before receiving his undergraduate
degree in biology/chemistry from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
After that, he completed his medical school degree at the University of
South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine, in Vermillion, South Dakota.
He went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology at the William Beaumont
Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
